Recent and in-depth research has led to backdating the birth of football in Figline to the immediate post-war period, to be exact to 1919. The Sport Club Figline was already active in that year and for the entire following decade, leaving space for other teams towns during the 1930s. However, the lack of a regular sports field conditioned the Gialloblù football activity which met its official baptism on 1 April 1945. Since then, first the US Figlinese and then the AS Figline have held the flag high in about 2500 official matches who led the Valdarno team first in Serie D (in the seventies) and then in C1 (in the early 2000s) with many men destined to become protagonists of national football: Maurizio Sarri, Leonardo Semplici, Renzo Castagnini, Stefano Sottili, Enrico Chiesa, Moreno Torricelli, and many others.
